Today will be my first entry, in bascially what some could say as the first day of the rest of my life. Today, I have finished my summer of 2005, and will return to Atlanta to begin another year of school, which will be my final as an undergrad at Georgia Tech. I can definately say that I've been fortunate in that all my my summers, as far back as I can remember have been awesome, and these past 4 months have been just as spectacular. Starting off in May, which seems like years ago, I started off by working in the FASET office, which wasn't ridiciliously exciting, but as far as summer jobs go, was the way to go. Having the ability to walk to work, work with people I really enjoy, and help a program that I had some prior experience with was definately a great option to make some pre-summer spending cash. That job lasted for about three weeks, and gave me plenty of time to hang out with my boys at the house, and take quite a few small trips around Atlanta to see much of what I don't have time for during the year. After that experience, it was near late May. In prior months, I had planned a road/rafting trip with my parents to Central Utah, As always, road tripping with the family is a great time, not in the party sense, but in the seeing the country on a shoestring budget (on my part) sense. Passing through TN, KY, IL, MO, KS, CO, then UT... we definately had the chance to see plenty, and the rafting trip itself was quite a memorable experience. On the trip, we also caught glimpse of a few breathtaking national parks, and landscapes. After returning from that, I had about a week's time to prepare for the summer's next adventure.... Well to preface, my job out in LA was planning on flying me out there for free, so I had it worked that they'd fly me from Boston. That way I could see Fern & Sam, and also visit my new newphew Zach!, So I spent a few days in Boston around June 17-20th, and got to catch up with the family there, relax a bit, and prepare myself for the weeks to follow. Upon arriving to Los Angeles on June 20th, I can't even describe how much fun I had for the next 7 weeks. The staff I worked with was absolutely amazing, and to have all of the greatest sights of LA, food, lodging, and bascially everything covered... while getting paid as a summer job, was the best possible way I think I could have spent my time. It was a blast getting to meet so many people from all over the world, and experience cultures that I have never encountered before... such a great experience, that I'm sure I'll return to do again next year. It reminded me so much of why I loved going to summer camps as a teenager!, So that experience ended about a week ago. in the meanwhile, I decided to take a road trip to Monterey, CA... with most of the "quality time" being spent on CA Hwy 1 (Pac Coast Hwy), Probably the most scenic, and beautiful stretch of road I've ever driven besides the stretch of I-70 in Colorado that I took earlier this year..., I stayed at the Cal Poly DX chapter along the way, and absolutely fell in love with Cal Poly, and currently thinking about the idea of attending grad school there instead of Tech. I guess after this summer I've come to realize that somewhere, not sure exactly where, but somewhere in the western US is the home for me. I guess I'm going to make it one of my goals to make my way out here over the next few years, I'm not sure how quite yet... but that is in the making.
