Tuesday (Week1)

So we're not in the midst of the first full week of rush, and I've been blessed to be able to see so many friends from the past 5 years (yes I said five, and let me tell you how emotionally crushing it is to introduce myself at a 5th year here at Tech). Yesterday day was the first day back at class, and it's strange to see so many familar faces, yet so many people that I have absoutely no idea when and where they stepped onto "my" campus.. haha, But the first day of school always is amazing for a few reasons. 1. Everyone is still excited to be back. 2. Classes never last more than 50% of their intended time. and 3. Everyone has the time to sit around, catch up, and hear about eachother' summer. And that is exactly what I did. After my 3 hour nap between last night's rush, and my 8am class... I decided that it would be a good idea to go sit on Skiles walkway and watch Georgia Tech's new populace meander about campus. I got to sit around with hother 5th years who all seemed to congregate together, since we've seen our familar faces since August of 2001. We're having one of the best quality Rush classes from as far back as I can remember, and classes don't seem like their going to be too tough.... I'll be sure to check back in here in a week or so when things quiet down just a bit!

Wednesday!

So wednesday is now here, and nothing really new has happened. Last night I booked my most complicated flight plan ever for xmas break. So I'll be flying from Atlanta to Thailand with stopovers in Seoul, Taipei, and Los Angeles. I guess not to shabby to be getting three tickets for the price of one. Currently, I'm also in the planning for the other breaks during this semester, possibly to the Pacific Northwest, and Illinois. In the meanwhile, life on campus is back as normal. Finally moved back into the room completely, and feel that I can move on with the rest of my life :-), The house and 5th street look great, and even better, I am reminded why Atlanta still keeps me excited about living here. Today I'll be helping out with a panel of students to help new faculty and staff here on campus, and then I have a meeting with the other local Georgia Red Bull reps around lunch time.... So all in all, the day is looking pretty good. I put down about $4000 on my back acct. yesterday with a combo of flight tickets and tuiton. So I think I'm going to need to find a way to make some cash here in the near future. At any rate, I will be in touch soon.

August 15th, 2005

So finally back here to Atlanta, and was greeted with a typical hot and humid Georgia day. Woke up around 1pm (which is only 10am cali time!), and decided to go running about 45 mins later... bad idea. So after toughing out a scorching and burning run with Cat, we made it out to SAC fields to throw the frisbee around a little bit, that was a good time, and reminded me of just being back at Tech in general... then the color guard showed up, which brought me back about 4 years to when I was just showing up for my first time as a part of the Georgia Tech Marching Band..... scary!!!, So tomorrow, I will move back into Delta Chi, and begin my duties as B, a little daunting... but yet, I am really looking forward to this year, and I think we're gonna do a great job with the chapter, and with all of my graduating friends as well. We'll see how things, go... and I'll keep an update as the semester passes on....

August 13th, 2005

Today will be my first entry, in bascially what some could say as the first day of the rest of my life. Today, I have finished my summer of 2005, and will return to Atlanta to begin another year of school, which will be my final as an undergrad at Georgia Tech. I can definately say that I've been fortunate in that all my my summers, as far back as I can remember have been awesome, and these past 4 months have been just as spectacular. Starting off in May, which seems like years ago, I started off by working in the FASET office, which wasn't ridiciliously exciting, but as far as summer jobs go, was the way to go. Having the ability to walk to work, work with people I really enjoy, and help a program that I had some prior experience with was definately a great option to make some pre-summer spending cash. That job lasted for about three weeks, and gave me plenty of time to hang out with my boys at the house, and take quite a few small trips around Atlanta to see much of what I don't have time for during the year. After that experience, it was near late May. In prior months, I had planned a road/rafting trip with my parents to Central Utah, As always, road tripping with the family is a great time, not in the party sense, but in the seeing the country on a shoestring budget (on my part) sense. Passing through TN, KY, IL, MO, KS, CO, then UT... we definately had the chance to see plenty, and the rafting trip itself was quite a memorable experience. On the trip, we also caught glimpse of a few breathtaking national parks, and landscapes. After returning from that, I had about a week's time to prepare for the summer's next adventure.... Well to preface, my job out in LA was planning on flying me out there for free, so I had it worked that they'd fly me from Boston. That way I could see Fern & Sam, and also visit my new newphew Zach!, So I spent a few days in Boston around June 17-20th, and got to catch up with the family there, relax a bit, and prepare myself for the weeks to follow. Upon arriving to Los Angeles on June 20th, I can't even describe how much fun I had for the next 7 weeks. The staff I worked with was absolutely amazing, and to have all of the greatest sights of LA, food, lodging, and bascially everything covered... while getting paid as a summer job, was the best possible way I think I could have spent my time. It was a blast getting to meet so many people from all over the world, and experience cultures that I have never encountered before... such a great experience, that I'm sure I'll return to do again next year. It reminded me so much of why I loved going to summer camps as a teenager!, So that experience ended about a week ago. in the meanwhile, I decided to take a road trip to Monterey, CA... with most of the "quality time" being spent on CA Hwy 1 (Pac Coast Hwy), Probably the most scenic, and beautiful stretch of road I've ever driven besides the stretch of I-70 in Colorado that I took earlier this year..., I stayed at the Cal Poly DX chapter along the way, and absolutely fell in love with Cal Poly, and currently thinking about the idea of attending grad school there instead of Tech. I guess after this summer I've come to realize that somewhere, not sure exactly where, but somewhere in the western US is the home for me. I guess I'm going to make it one of my goals to make my way out here over the next few years, I'm not sure how quite yet... but that is in the making.
